Visiting Las Vegas and want the flexibility to ride the bus when you want? Prefer to use cash but want the convenience of using the rideRTC app to pay for a single-ride? Or do you just want to use your personal credit or debit card? The RTC has many payment options for you!
rideRTC Tap & GO Features
RTC Tap & GO offers new flexibility and convenience that lets you purchase single-ride fares directly in the rideRTC app! With RTC Tap & GO, you can add funds using a credit or debit card, or using cash at a Cash To Mobile location. After you add funds, just scan the barcode on the main screen of the app when you board the bus and the appropriate single-ride fare is automatically deducted from your account balance.

RTC currently accepts Visa and Mastercard branded contactless enabled bank cards and mobile wallets on-board the vehicle at the validator. At this time accepted mobile wallets include Apple Pay and Google Pay.

you’re ready to tap and pay.
When tapping to pay with your contactless card, take it out of your wallet or purse, as other contactless cards can be mistakenly scanned by the on-board validator.
Your contactless card or payment-enabled device just needs to be within 1 to 2 inches of the contactless symbol located on the front of the on-board validator to initiate a payment. You will need to hold your card or device in this position for 1 to 2 seconds.
No, tapping is not necessary, but holding it flat against the reader works best.
Yes. The contactless card carries the same trusted security as a contact chip card. Every time a contactless card or device is used, the on-board validator creates a unique encryption code to protect your payment information, making it extremely effective in reducing counterfeit fraud.
Personal data is never stored, sold, or given away by RTC or any third-party agent. RTC’s customer service representatives do not have access to full credit card account numbers. The on-board validator does not transmit or store the cardholder’s card number. All information is encrypted using a security key.
You can tap to pay where you see the contactless symbol located on the front of the on-board validator as you board the vehicle.
Each time you tap your contactless card or payment-enabled device, you will be charged for a single-ride fare. On all Strip vehicles the single-ride fare is $4.00, and on all Residential routes the single-ride fare is $2.00.
No, there are no additional fees to use contactless-enabled payment methods.
No. At this time, using your contactless card or payment-enabled device will result in a full-fare single-ride fare charge.
The fare will be charged to your card account like a standard credit or debit card transaction with the description, ‘RTC, Las Vegas’. All trips are aggregated throughout a 24-hour period, starting from the initial tap, so if multiple trips are taken, you will see one charge for the total amount due. For example, 3 single-ride taps on a Strip route in a 24-hour period will show a charge of $12.00 ($4.00 per trip X 3 trips).
Yes. The cardholder will tap once at the on-board validator for each member of the group. Each tap will result in a single-ride fare paid. There is no limit to the amount of taps, but we recommend waiting a few seconds in between taps.
If you tap your contactless card or payment-enabled device and the on-board validator indicates that the payment was not accepted, you will need to use another payment method to pay for your ride. Your payment may not be accepted for a few reasons:
- The RTC accepts only Visa and Mastercard branded debit and credit cards. Make sure you are using the correct card type.
- If your card has been reported lost or stolen, the on-board validator will decline the transaction. RTC advises the cardholder to contact their issuing bank to verify the card eligibility.
- Your card or smart device is damaged.
- It is possible that your payment method has been blocked if the RTC has not received payment for a prior fare. Until payment is received for that fare, that payment method will remain blocked. Please call RTC Customer Care at 702-228-7433 (RIDE) to clear your outstanding balance.
If you see a charge on your card statement that shows ‘RTC Las Vegas’ and you don’t recognize the charge amount, please call RTC Customer Care at 702-228-7433 (RIDE). To find the transaction, you will need to provide the first six and last four digits of the card number used and the expiration date.
RTC recommends using the same card while riding the RTC transit system.

The Device Account Number (also called a Virtual Account Number) is a 4-digit number associated with a card in a device that is different from the number shown on the physical card. Each card in a device has its own unique 4-digit DAN (e.g., a Visa will have a DAN that’s different from a Mastercard’s DAN on the same iPhone, and those cards on an Apple Watch will also have unique DANs).
Finding the number depends on what type of mobile wallet you are using:
Apple Wallet (iPhone):
Open the Settings on your iPhone \ Go to Wallet & Apple Pay \ Tap on card \ Scroll down to Device Account Number (****1234)
Apple Watch (Watch):
Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone \ Go to the My Watch tab \ Tap Wallet & Apple Pay \ Tap your card \ Scroll down to Device Account Number (****1234)
Google Pay:
Open the Google Pay app \ Tap Payment \ Choose a Payment Card \ Scroll down to the bottom to find the Virtual Account Number (only last 4 digits are visible)

Load cash onto your rideRTC account at nearly 350 locations across the Las Vegas Valley. Simply show the barcode at any participating vendor, tell them the amount of cash you want to load, and the cashier will add it to your account. Your balance will be waiting for you once you're ready to purchase a pass.

Smartphone App
We recommend you use the rideRTC or Transit app to view your bus in real-time and receive predictive arrival information. Once you have selected the route you are waiting for, clicking the GO button will allow you to set a reminder if you are not already at your bus stop and it will keep you informed of any new information should something change with the bus you are tracking.
Text Message
Even if you don’t have a smartphone, we provide predictive arrival times for all our bus stops via text message. You can get the latest predicted arrival times by texting us your stop number. For example, if you’re at stop 2121, just text rideRTC 2121 to 41411 and you’ll receive the next predicted arrival times at that stop.
Over The Phone
Our automated phone service will provide the same predicted arrival times. Call us at 702-228-RIDE (7433) and select your language and press 1 for the next bus arrival times. You will be asked to say or type in your bus stop number and select which route you are waiting for.
rideRTC offers 2-Hour, 24-Hour, 7-Day, 15-Day and 30-Day passes on all residential routes. 2-Hour, 24-Hour, and 3-Day passes are available for the Deuce on the Strip route.
rideRTC mobile passes can be used on all RTC routes including Deuce on the Strip. RTC mobile passes cannot be used on the Las Vegas Monorail or any other service not provided by the RTC.
Most passes purchased through rideRTC require the customer to activate the pass prior to use. If the pass is not activated immediately, it will remain in the customer's account for 30 days before it auto-activates.
The 15 day and 30 day passes are the only passes that activate upon purchase through rideRTC.
Most digital passes purchased through rideRTC require the customer to activate the pass prior to use, except the 15 Day and 30 Day digital passes, which are active from the point of purchase.
In order to use the rideRTC app you must use a supported device and meet the minimum system requirements. Some phones have settings in place that do not allow apps to be downloaded while on cellular networks. If you are having trouble downloading the app, try to do so by using Wi-Fi before further troubleshooting.
